Children of Caine
The goal of the vampire sphere is to create a world that's true to the one outlined by White Wolf Publishing. That world is dark, stable, and is moved more by political force than physical force. In that vein, maintaining a strong game comes at the sacrifice of absolute freedom; just like the world of the vampire. Strength is not just in age, ability, or political position, but also in the willingness to cross lines that others won't. If vampires are a step up on the evolutionary chain, are you a vampire or just a human with fangs?

Applications and Backgrounds

A well-written background is not an epic tale of trial, triumph, and tragedy. A well-written background is the story of a person that lived under normal (by World of Darkness standards) circumstances that became something exceptional. We all know how the World of Darkness has exceptional things, what we need to know is how those exceptional things affected your normal person. To accomplish this, you must establish facets of your character before they became aware of the world of darkness and then show how those facets were changed by it, and how those changes affected the person as a whole. Because there's no unifying goal in Vampire, the game's focus is the individual. If the individual isn't well developed, they won't have a great deal to contribute to the story. A well-written background is essential to both the player and the staff to know how the character fits into the story, and moves your character from being a face in the backdrop to a star in the spotlight.

A few things that expected in applications are...
      1) A rather decent background, not a novel but it is expected to have more at least a page and a half. If nothing else.
      2) A full list of stats and merits/flaws before approval and character generation.
3)A detailed bit on why you were Embraced. Nothing happens randomly.
4)The Beast, how do you view it? Is it your mortal enemy ? Part of your psyche ? Or the natural way of things?
      5) How do you define Good and Evil? Or do you?

Limits

Because of their rarity, some statistics, powers, merits, and flaws will be restricted or capped. In this instance, restricted means that the stat is rare and we're already close to our limit on how many people in the sphere can possess that statistic and that a good background will be required to warrant you receiving it. Capped means that we're already at or beyond our limit for that stat and won't accept any more, under any circumstances, until the presence of that stat on the grid is reduced. Statistics that are reserved or capped are awarded on a first-come first-served basis.
