So your looking into the realms of the great Magi. Well as you know nothing in life comes with out cost, even something as great as magic. With magic comes power, responsibility, as well as problems and turmoil. Why would someone chose a path such as this?
Well each has their own reasons for taking the walk down the path that leads to Ascension. If you feel your brave, and willing to open your eyes to a whole new world, then you've come to the right sphere, however if you're not sure then now is the hour to turn your back and remain asleep to the wonders of the new world. Applications
A few things I expect in applications are...
1) A rather decent background. I don't expect a novel, but I do expect more at least a page and a half. If nothing else.
having become a mage would warent a rather good chunk of a background. App'ing a super requires a better background then a normal mortal as there is much more to go into.
2) A full list of stats and merits/flaws before approval and chargen. that way we know that the concept is gonna pass.
3)A detailed bit on your avatar..it helps me out when I need to know such info.
4)I need to know what your Resonance is. Is it Dynamic, Entropic, or is it Static?
5)Your Paradigm, what is it?
As of right now sense this is a new and starting mush I'm asking that all mages start with a Arete of no higher then 2. However I do promise to give quick raises in that department, at least for the first seeking.
Paradigm
To save everyone a lot of heartache, I'm going to standardize how I want your Paradigm submitted. I have ten questions that must be answered (like a survey). Answer them in paragraph format and feel free to write as much as you want for each one.
At a minimum I expect a paragraph that answers the question.After you have answered the ten questions, you are free to add as much additional information as you feel is needed under the heading "Misc." I encourage you to not feel constrained by these questions. You can always offer more. I just need these questions answered at a minimum.
1. How do you believe the Universe began?
2. Do you believe in Gods/Spirits? (If so explain who/what they are)
3. Why can /you/ work magick when others cannot?
4. What is the purpose to Life?
5. What is the purpose to Death?
6. What do you define as good?
7. What do you define as "evil?
8. How do you define paradox?
9. How do you define Ascension?
10. Define the basic forces of the universe as you see them.
Please note, I am not asking you to look these things up in the book. I'm asking you to define them the way your Character sees them. The next post will be an example of this Paradigm Questionaire filled out. I will be asking that you already approved types also fill out this format and will give you a whole MONTH to do it in. In many cases (if you had a fully fleshed out Paradigm already), you will just have to cut and paste and do a little expanding.
Resonance
If paradox is the backlash of the universe twisting to change the mage as the mage changes reality, then Resonance is the constant subtle current that surrounds the mage as an agent of chage. Magic stems from desire to reshape the world to his whims. Although magic allows the mage to bend the world in that fashion, it slso means that his desires affect the world constantly, always changing things just a little bit and influencing the outcome of the mage's effect.
All mages have some form of Resonance, while the neophyte mages only manifest a little Resonance -A single point in a single type-. As a mage becomes more powerful, does more magic and delves into deeper passions, Resonance becomes more Pronounced. When a mage works his or her magic, his Resonance causes the effect to reflect his intent and emotion. Think of Resonance as a mystical form of a finger print. Each mage has its own little quirk left behind to linger in the magical effect. (Mage 3rd ed, page 197)
